A Quick Census Update
Received voicemail at 2pm today (Friday) that I have been approved to work for the Census Bureau. The duties I have been authorized to perform end tomorrow (Saturday).
Without notice or the expectation that I would receive approval prior to being terminated, I have been told to work 8 hours today and 8 hours tomorrow. The work I have been assigned might consume 45 minutes of each day if I walk/drive slowly.
I was infomed that all Census workers that had been fired previously have been rehired and may work as much as they would like. Apparently several employees complained to the EEOC (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). I am not sure whether this ruling is local or national. There is no work for these people to perform. They will be paid regardless.
The federal budget deficit for 2010 is projected to be $1.17 trillion.
